UCC Librarian Eyes Cape Coast MCE Post
A 39-year-old university of Cape Coast Senior Librarian Assistant, Mr. George Frimpong-Manso, has declared his intention to contest and grab the Cape Coast municipal chief executive top job.
Declaring his intention to the Punch in an exclusive interview, the librarian who once contested the incumbent MCE for the political office in 2009 minced no words in expressing the desire to stage a comeback for the post.
According to him, being a resident of Ola estate and an Assembly man for the Ola-Madina electoral area within the municipality, it has afforded him the opportunity to learn at first hand and appreciate the plight and challenges confronting the residents in the Cape Coast municipality.
He further indicated that he has served the National Democratic Congress in various capacity spanning from the PNDC era to date and held the view that his assumption to helm of affairs as MCE would enable him meet the needs and aspirations of the people to also benefit from the better Ghana Agenda of the President John Mahama-led NDC.
Outlining his visions if given the nod, he disclosed that various socio-economic areas have been identified which he intends to address as MCE.
This, he mentioned include, education, water, road, construction of market, improving on sporting activity and job creation as well as skill training for the youth.
'I would like to tackle the Kotokuraba market and fast track its construction as well as ensure the speedy relocation of the Kokompe artisans to a permanent site at Mempeasem.
...Education and job creation would be my main priority to ensure that children of school going age are not deprived of their birth right within the municipality,' he assured.
