Abibigromma to perform 'That Jesus Boy' to commemorate 20th anniversary

Accra, March 26, GNA - The National Drama Company known as Abibigromma of the National Theatre, has released two great soul inspiring plays titled: 'That Jesus Boy' and 'Miraculous' to commemorate their 20th anniversary celebration.

 The play, which is written by a UK-based writer, Director Lyricist, poet and storyteller Yaw Asiyama seeks to explain why Mama Salomey's children left their good reliable jobs and decided to follow 'That Jesus boy'.

The play features Mawuli Semevor, Edinam Atatsi, Robert Kodua and Eldad Kumah.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview, Mr Yaw Asiyama said the play conveys an Easter message of Love and Forgiveness and cautioned parents to allow their wards to be what they aspire to be.

He said the second play 'Miraculous' is a musical play which speaks about a widow, whose only son went missing on the day Christ Jesus was crucified and wondered where her help could come from.

The play would be showcased to depict an African ownership and feature actors and actresses like Joycelyn Doglokuma, Ben Kwadey, Ato Ghartey, Vera Bonney and Agnes Panfred.

It would be shown from 30th March - 1st April, on Saturday 4 pm to 7 pm, Sunday 4 pm and Monday 4 pm to 7.30 pm.

He described the characters as serious professionals and the play Adorable.

The Abibigromma group was established in August 1983 at the School of Performing Arts, University of Ghana, Legon, as a model repertory troupe to facilitate teaching, research and experimentation.

The Abibigromma group was later relocated to the National Theatre as one of its resident companies. GNA
