Special Report On Elections 2012: EC Says Voting Will Continue On Saturday

The Electoral Commission of Ghana which is the official body in Ghana responsible for all national elections has announced that voting in the ongoing 2012 elections will continue tomorrow Saturday 8th December, 2012.

According to the EC, this has become necessary due to the widespread hitches nationwide as a result of broken down biometric verification machines.

The Principal Public Affairs Director at the EC, Madam Sylvia Annor, speaking to Peace Fm reporters said the exercise has been extended to tomorrow due to the major hitches recorded in various constituencies regarding biometric machines that were not working.

“However, those in long queues should still continue to be in the queue and wait to vote while voters in areas where the machines are not functioning at all are kindly advised to go home and come back tomorrow morning to continue with the process,” Madam Sylvia Annor disclosed.

She also charged all eligible voters to remain calm since there is definitely a second chance awaiting them to vote tomorrow.

Madam Sylvia Annor further pointed out that all those who have successfully voted should endeavour to obey official rules which clearly states that “anyone who has already voted should not attempt to vote again tomorrow since it will be highly criminal and can lead to arrests.”
