Yaw Ampofo Ankra roots for NDC

A senior sports journalist, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, has openly declared his support for President John Dramani Mahama to win the December poll.

According to Ankrah, President Mahama was by far the best candidate, as compared to the other candidates of the various political parties, who are seeking for the high office of the land.

He was speaking at a press conference organised by 'Movement for Mahama' held in Accra recently. Mr. Ankrah, who led the group, noted that the achievements of President Mahama would have been celebrated in countries like the United States of America (USA), United Kingdom (UK), and others.

What is motivating the seasoned sports journalist into politics is still unclear, but he insisted he was now an independent person capable of making his own decisions.

He told news men yesterday that he had resigned as a sports journalist of TV3, and was now freelance.

'From North to South, East to West, the youth of Ghana have been roused into action. They know, as we know, they can sense, as we can sense, that the time has come for everyone to stand up and embrace the success story that is surely unfolding before us,' he said.

He emphasised that President Mahama had proven beyond reasonable doubt that he was the right leader for Ghana ever since he assumed the highest office as the President of the Republic.

He further said their group, 'Movement for Mahama,' had been inspired by the President's sense of maturity, humility, affability and continuous fight and dedication to the needs of the ordinary Ghanaians.

'We observed with glowing bride the natural statesmanship ably displayed for Ghana at this year's United Nations (UN) General Assembly,' he noted.

He added that President Mahama's encounter with the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) was dynamic, and without any aggression gave reasons as to why Ghana needed to give him a chance in the December 7 th polls, to advance the NDC's Better Ghana Agenda.

According to him, the NDC flagbearer's priority and hallmark was to work to see a better and improved standard of living of Ghanaians.

'So confident are we in the better Ghana Agenda that many of us have resigned from our jobs and put our business on hold to ensure this humble desire to serve the ordinary Ghanaian is fulfilled.'

Mr. Ankrah said the impact of the President in just four months was enough reason for Ghanaians to give him another chance.

He, however, announced that he had no regrets for joining the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and said he was encouraging the now and the next generations to join if they can.

He urged all eligible voters to vote wisely to retain the NDC for the betterment of their lives.
