DIVINE WORD INTERNATIONAL MINISTRIES DONATES TO THE HOMELES SHELTER IN FALLS CHURCH - VA.

The State of Virginia has yet witnessed another incredible atmosphere as Divine Word International Ministries led by Bishop Dr. Kofi Adonteng Boateng and some members from other states, Germany, Canada and other parts of the world gathered at the Crossroads Community Shelter in Falls Church to offer support to the needy in the facility.

The ministry has embarked on a “MAKING A DIFFERENCE PROGRAM” under which the church offers assistance to the needy in most shelter homes in the United States. Several people have benefitted from this benevolence since the program was enacted in April 2010 .

The Founder and General Overseer Bishop Dr. Kofi Adonteng Boateng urged the needy in society never to give up but continue to put their hope and trust in God and all will be well with them. He stated this when he led members of the church to donate cash and goods to the 3525 Bailey's Crossroads Community Shelter - a homeless shelter in Falls Church, last weekend.

The assorted items comprised of 20 big boxes of tooth brush, crest tooth paste, bathing soap, sponge, towels, face towels, canned foods and an amount of three thousand dollars.

In a brief speech, the bishop said the church was touched by the plight of the homeless. "God loves a cheerful giver and also service to mankind is service to God, hence this is our modest contribution to alleviate the burden of the government and the community towards the up-keep of the homeless” Bishop Adonteng Boateng noted.

Bishop Adonteng Boateng said the donation was a widow's mite to support a worthy cause and also to let inmates know that, there are some people out there praying for them and ready to come to their aid.

He said the church is greatly concerned about the plight of the needy in society and would partner with institutions and organizations that care for the underprivileged to offer assistance. In a show of solidarity, members of the congregation dined, prayed and played with the in-mates to create a sense of belonging and affection.

Bishop Adonteng Boateng advised the inmates to be God-fearing and always remember that, God is their cornerstone, urging them to pray for his guidance, protection, mercy, hope, peace and love.

Mr. Thomas Nichols the Executive Program Director of Bailey's Crossroads Community Shelter who received the donation on behalf of the management and thanked the church for the kind gesture and promised that, the money and the items will put into a good use .

He noted that there a 50 bed homeless shelter that Bailey's also offers a drop -in service five days a week from 9:30am - 1;30pm and a seven day hypothermia program from December through March.

" In the large community room at Bailey's , we found a continental breakfast buffet donated by Panera Bread and also there bagels and pastries for quick grad-and-go snacks while residents and drop-ins make use of computers, laundry facilities and counseling services.
