MASSIVE CORRUPTION HIT KWAEBIBIREM DISTRICT ASSEMBLY, YOUTH GIVES TWO WEEKS AULTIMATUM TO ASSEMBLY FOR EXPLANATION
The youth wing of the New Patriotic Party in the Kade constituency has given the management of the Kwaebibirem District Assembly a two weeks ultimatum for explanations and bringing perpetuators to book the most corrupt deals ever in the history of the assembly which has rendered the assembly the most highly indebted poor district in the whole country.
In a press release signed by Mr. Kofi Abrefa, a youth activist and the president of the tertiary education students confederacy of the NPP (TESCON), University of Education, Winneba chapter, he said the poor handling of the assembly under the current NDC government has made the assembly highly indebted to individuals, companies and other organizations 'gargantuan' sums of money. The release said, for the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) alone, the assembly owes them twenty-two thousand Ghana cedis which has led to the disconnection of electricity power supply to the assembly, putting the assembly into total darkness and halting all activities of the assembly. Also the assembly owes Union oil and Goil filling stations branches in kade an amount of one hundred thousand Ghana cedis been cost of fuel. On food, Mr. Abrefa said, the assembly owes Awuakyewaa Hotel an amount of fifteen thousand Ghana cedis been cost of food supplied to the assembly on some occasions and also owes some anonymous food vendors an amount of two thousand Ghana cedis been cost of food served during the recently held NDC primaries in the constituency.
Meanwhile, all our effort to reach the assembly for their side of the story proved futile. the DCE, we were told is out of the country and the district cordinator told us that this issue is not a press issue so he will not speak to the press on the issue.
Below is the full release
Press release by the new patriotic party (NPP) youth of kade constituency Corruption and mismanagement in the Kwaebibirem District Assembly
Our district, the Kwaebibirem District Assembly for some time now has been deprived of major developmental projects irrespective of high taxes (revenue) assumed by the revenue department of the assembly including regular common funds and other grants from the central government
The current administration of the district assembly in the era of the present NDC government has rendered the district one of the most Highly Indebted Poor District in the country, hence Kwaebiebirem District Assembly in total darkness.
From our close source and research emanating from the Assembly, we realized that the Assembly is highly indebted to individuals, companies and other organizations as a result of credited fuel, electricity and other logistics as well as inflated projects.
FUEL DEBT
The district assembly assuming office in about four years ago is indebted to Union oil and Goil filling stations an amount of about Hundred thousand cedis (GH¢100,0000.00) equivalent to one billion old cedis (¢1,000,000,000.00). There has been no road construction any where or corner of the district, how come such an unprecedented debt. Meanwhile the only tractor for construction given by Ex. President John Agyekum Kuffour is used for hiring of which people pay before is given out
ELECTRICITY COMPANY OF GHANA DEBT
The assembly is also indebted to the Electricity Company of Ghana a sum of twenty thousand cedis (GH¢22,000.00) which is equivalent to two hundred and twenty million old cedis (¢220,000,000.00) which led to the total disconnection of power in the assembly, first in the history of Ghana
INFLATED PROJECTS
The administration annex currently under construction in front of the assembly has also been inflated sixteen million Ghana cedis (GH¢16,000,000.00) equivalent to one hundred and sixty billion cedis (GH¢160,000,000,000.00) which could be used to construct about two hundred (200) six unit classroom blocks.
The lorry park in Kade under construction abandoned months ago causing a lot of traffic jam and havoc to businesses has also been inflated five hundred thousand Ghana cedis (GH¢500,000). Indeed a corrupt administration.
HOTEL AND FOOD DEBTS
Hotel and food credited by the assembly can never be underestimated. The assembly upon further investigation is also indebted to Awuakewaa Hotel in Kade a sum of fifteen thouseand Ghana cedis (GH¢15,000.00) equivalent to one hundred and fifty million old cedis (GH¢150,000,000.00).
During the primaries of NDC in the Kade constituency, the current district chief executive Hon. Osae together with Hon. Agyemang Duah (parliamentary candidate of the NDC in the Kade constituency) also credited food from caterers whose names are withheld in Kade and Akwatia the sum of two thousand Ghana cedis (GH¢2000.00) all in the name of the assembly
The assembly cannot even afford a common two hundred cedis (GH¢200.00) for refreshment of her members during sittings. What a gargantuan shame to the assembly.
EX-GRATIA
The assembly in the tenure of Hon. Agyemang duah as DCE received a donation of Eighty-five thousand cedis (GH¢85,000.00) equivalent to eight hundred and fifty million old cedis (¢850,000,000.00) from G.O.P.D.C meant for the payment of ex-gratia to some present and former assembly members but only to realize the money has been supposedly used to construct Kumaning round-about which could have cost about ten thousand cedis. Ex-gratia still not paid, where is the rest of the money? Corruption all over the place.
DESCREMINATION
Barely a year ago, the NDC government distributed motor bikes to the district assembly to be given to assembly members to aid their work. Under the watch of Hon. Osae the DCE, the pro-NPP members were left out hence giving the bikes to only NDC assembly members, appointees and even cleaners of the assembly
PRESIDENT MILLS FUNERAL
The assembly from our close source is also indebted as a result of the funeral ceremony of our late president whose funeral was taught to have been profitable to Ghanaians. What a shock
We the youth of the new patriotic party cannot sit down for our heads to be put into fire still alive. We therefore demand answers to these unprecedented corruption and mismanagement of funds in the history of our district. We are giving the assembly only two weeks for explanations and as well bring perpetrators to book, else we shall advise ourselves.
We encourage Ghanaians to vote for NPP and our lives shall forever be transformed. Let us vote out the NDC to prevent further corruption and misappropriation of funds in the district.
Long live kwaebibirem district, long live Mother Ghana.
Thank you all for coming
Signed
Kofi Abrefa
(NPP youth activist)
