Manso Adubia affirms support for the creation of new constituencies
Manso Adubia, September 17, GNA – A group calling itself “Concerned Citizens of the Proposed Manso Manso Adubia Constituency” in the Amansie West District of Ashanti has affirmed its support for the Electoral Commission (EC) to go ahead with the creation of the 45 new constituencies.
The group said in a statement that the move would pave way for the area to see more development projects.
The statement signed by Nana Doku Dankwa II, chief of Manso Adubia, expressed dissatisfaction about how their area had been left behind as far as development is concerned.
The group said it was not particularly happy about the fact that the Amansie East, a sister district created in the early 1980's, had been demarcated into three districts and a number of constituencies but the Amansie West to which their locality belonged has remained the same.
This, it said, had stalled development in the area.
The statement said the chiefs and the leaders of the community had already prepared the grounds for a smooth take-off of a new constituency if the EC is given the green light and appealed to civil society to allow the EC to exercise its constitutional mandate without any hindrance.
“In case the creation of the constituencies becomes a mirage, they should tag our locality as 'a no go area' for political campaigns and elections”, the statement said.
