Ho to remember late President Mills
Ho, July 30, GNA – Monday, July 30, 2012, may turn out to be an unofficial public holiday for residents of Ho, as public and civil servants would join thousands of people on a processing in commemoration of late President John Evans Atta Mills.
The Ghana News Agency (GNA) observed that some stores and shops were closed, and by 0500 hours officials of the Information Services Department were in vans reminding people in the Ho Municipality of the procession, apart from the fact that announcements had been made on local FM stations on Saturday and Sunday about the event.
The motley funeral cortege in red and black accompanied by drumming and singing of dirges started from the Ho Central Market area at about 0600 hours and was joined by other people along the four-kilometer stretch to the Ho Sports Stadium.
Some motorbike riders and taxi drivers competed to outdo each other with frightening antics amidst tooting of horns and a big banner read: “President Mills Peace Man.”
