No increase in electricity and water tariffs, says PURC

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) says there would be no increase in electricity and water tariffs for this quarter.

The Commission cites unacceptably poor quality of service delivery to consumers as reason for the decision.

This includes recent system collapses, frequent power outages as well as the poor management of the load shedding programme undertaken by the utility companies.

Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Emmanuel Annan, in a press release reiterated the commission's commitment to ensuring the highest standards of utility service delivery to all consumers.

He adds it will intensify monitoring exercises to ensure safe and reliable services to consumers.
