The Corporate Services Executive of MTN, Madam Cynthia Lumor, has assured customers of the leading communication services provider in the country that the company would continue to ensure satisfactory service to all customers in every part of the Volta Region.

Madam Lumor said the issue of coexisting by telecommunication organisations had been of much assistance to the company, as well as the SIM card registration of customers of the company had helped in reducing the situation where people use their mobile phones to engage in criminal activities.

Addressing media practitioners in the Volta Region at Ho, Madam Lumor said her outfit had so far been adjudged the number one telecommunication organisation, which did not only concentrate on profit making activities alone, but also had programmes to support communities in difficult situations, through its social services.

She pointed out that the telecommunication industry was one area that promotes economic growth of the nation, and disclosed that in 2010, the telecommunication industry accounted for 10 percent of government revenue, out of which the MTN alone, had six percent of the revenue collected.

Madam Lumor explained that apart from making it possible for people in the Volta Region to have access to the MTN network in all communities, it was very important for the people to take advantage of the numerous services available, such as the MTN Mobile Money Service, to enable them add more value to the use of services provided by the company.

The South-Eastern District Business Manager of MTN, Mr. Samuel Adjei-Sam, said one of the challenges confronting MTN was the regular destruction of its cables, most of the times by construction firms, saying when such destruction was detected, it cost the company huge sums of money to repair.

Mr. Adjei-Sam stressed that conscious efforts were being made by his outfit to ensure that communities in the Volta Region where MTN services were not available, would be connected to its services as part of efforts to make life more comfortable to the people in the rural areas, just as their counterparts in towns and cities.

The Volta Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association, Mr. Victor Kwawukume, commended the management and staff of the MTN for developing close relations with the media, noting that it was only MTN, as a company, that had made it part of its activities to have regular interactions with the media over the years.
