NPP chairman's wife and Ex in deadly brawl
A brown plaster covered her wound on the forehead, her eyes red, with several other bruises on her body. One could easily take her for a car accident victim, but 46 year old Eva Amoah is yet another victim of man's inhumanity to man.
A once fruitful and happy marriage gone sour, and not in her wildest dream did she ever think her husband, Nana Yaw Gyapong, a.k.a Ya-Buga, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman for Trobo-Amasaman Constituency, could subject her to such emotional and physical trauma and occasionally turn her into a punching bag to test his strength.
Eva Amoah, a trader, is currently responding to treatment after sustaining a deep cut on her forehead and bruises on other parts of her body, in a scuffle with her rival, Cindy Aboagye.
Cindy Aboagye, according to Madam Eva, stormed her home with three other persons and subjected her to severe beating, and in the process stabbed her with a knife.
'I was in a friend's house when my husband's new found love, Cindy Aboagye, her mother in-law, Mary Agyeiwaa and Adjetey stormed our premises and engaged me in a scuffle. They subjected me to sever beatings and when I tried to flee, Adjetey held my hands and in the process, my rival stabbed my forehead with a knife. My husband, who had packed his car opposite the house latter came in to separate us,' Madam Amoah narrated.
Madam Amoah told The Chronicle that she suspected her husband, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman for Trobo-Amasaman Constituency, Nana Yaw Gyapong as the brain behind the attack.
According to her, their marriage had gone sour and she was in the process of instituting a court action against her husband for compensation. To her, knowing her right has always posed a threat to the husband, hence her ordeal to refrain from seeking the court action.
'My 26 years of marriage life with Mr. Gyapong came to an abrupt end on December 8, 2011, when I was forced out from my matrimonial home with two of our children. It was a painful experience but I had no option than to endure it.
I therefore sought refuge in a friend's house in the same vicinity to enable me talk to my lawyers on the issue. My husband sees my move as a threat and is bent on doing anything possible to keep me away from initiating court action against him,' an emotional looking Madam Amoah underlined.
However, in an interview with Mr. Gyapong, he denied having a hand in the scuffle that ensued between his wife (Cindy Aboagy) and ex-wife (Eva Amoah).
He told The Chronicle that the move by his ex-wife was a calculated attempt to tarnish his hard earned reputation and to dint his political career, since she had been hurt by the separation, some four years ago.
'My brother, all that I know about the case is that my wife fought with my ex-wife some few days ago. My ex-wife is peeved that I have married another woman and has targeted the woman - sending people to kill her.
'She is a lady I have divorced some four years ago and compensated her with a storey building at Joma-Agape. We came to Accra and this lady started pursuing me that she doesn't need that storey building, and the unfortunate thing is that, the recent demolition exercise has affected it,' he intoned.
The scuffle between Eva Amoah and Mr. Gyapong began some four years ago when the latter went outside his matrimonial home and engaged in an extra marital affair with another woman (Cindy Aboagye), with whom he now has two children.
According to Madam Amoah, her husband demanded her immediate exit from her matrimonial home, together with their two children, after he found new love with Cindy.
'Since engaging in extra marital affair, I have never enjoyed peace. I am always at the receiving end of my husband's wrath. He twice threatened to shoot me with his pump action gun if I don't pack my baggage from the house,' a pale looking Eva Amoah noted with a jerky voice.
With those incessant warnings, Madam Amoah said she became alarmed and questioned her husband as to why he wanted her out of their matrimonial home, after toiling together for so many years to put up the building in which they lived.
According to Madam Amoah, this question rather infuriated Mr. Gyapong who warned her not to repeat the question again.
She explained that, after her husband's failed attempt to eject them from their matrimonial home, he announced that the owner of the said house has returned from abroad and it would be appropriate for them to vacate the building to enable him hand over to the owner.
'Immediately he said this, I suspected he was in for something else. Ever since we started putting up that building, the issue of someone owning the property had never popped up. I realized that he simply wanted me out of the house to enable him bring his new found love to occupy the said house.'
'We used to live in a single room in Obuasi, and through God's blessings we were able to build the house together. God was so kind to us that He helped us put up another building when we moved to Accra. Having toiled all these years to help him acquire properties for our children when we are no more, he now decided to eject us, and so I decided to seek redress at the law court,' she averred.
Her happy marriage suddenly came to an abrupt end on December 8, 2011, when she was finally forced out of her matrimonial home, together with two of their children.
According to Eva Amoah, after seeking refuge in a friend's house, she decided to intensify her court action against the husband, and so on February 27, 2012, she went with a bailiff to serve a writ of summons on her husband, but met his absence.
She said immediately the husband heard of the bailiff's visit, he mobilized some people, including his wife, mother in-law, and Sam Adjetey to assault her in a friend's house, where she was seeking refuge, after he drove her out of her matrimonial home.
'I was in my friend's house on March 1, 2012, when they attacked me. My husband's new wife, Cindy Aboagye, his mother in-law, a trader at Agbogbloshie and Adjetey were the first to attack me, with my husband joining them latter. They over powered me and in the process Cindy stabbed me on the forehead with a knife.
'They bolted away and lodged a complaint at Sowutuom Police Station. Those who came to my rescue also sent me to the Odorkor Divisional Police Station where I was given a police medical form to go to hospital,' she intoned.
The attackers, The Chronicle learnt, were later arrested but have been granted bail to report on March 7, 2012.
A witness to the incident, Nana Sarkodie Boateng, who is the Assemblyman of the area, when contacted confirmed the story. He described the Trobo-Amasaman NPP Chairman as a violent person. 'He moves with thugs and once stormed my house and threatened to kill me,' he alleged.
Police source at the Odorkor Divisional Police Station said the police have registered a complaint against the group of attackers, who allegedly assaulted Madam Asamoah and hinted that they were in the process of charging the two in court.
Mr. Gyapong, when contacted on his cell phone, told The Chronicle that he is innocent in the said case.
He directed this reporter to talk to the head of the Sowutuom Police Station, the Chief Crime Officer of the Odorkor Divisional Police Station and the head of the Hong Kong Police Station to ascertain the true fact of the matter.
'My brother, all that I know about the case is that my ex-wife fought with my wife some few days ago. My wife reported the matter to the Sowutuom Police Station, while my ex-wife reported the case to the Odorkor Divisional Police Station. The two, I'm told, have been charged and are expected to go to court,' he explained.
When quizzed whether he had any clue as to why his ex-wife fought with his new found love, the Trobo-Amasaman Constituency NPP Chairman said he knew his ex-wife has been upset ever since the two parted ways, and she has sworn heaven and earth to dent his image, since he is a political figure.

The lady is just being mischievous, she took this case to Hot FM and reported me fourteen times to the Police, but she hasn't succeeded. So, this is the path they want to take and I am not disturbed about it at all,' Mr. Gyapong who sounded worried about the incident told The Chronicle.
