NGO honours Kumasi Mayor
FIRSTNEWS MEDIA Foundation, a Non Governmental Organization whose benchmark is to identity enterprising public officials and encourage them to give off their best, has honoured the Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Samuel Sarpong.
The NGO last Friday gave a citation to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly's Chief Executive at a ceremony in Kumasi for his dedication to the cause of development of the Kumasi metropolis.
Nana Ampong, the Executive Director of the Foundation described the mayor of Kumasi as a unifier who had brought development in an atmosphere of peace.
He said the citation was mainly in recognition of the fact that the Mayor had exhibited good leadership qualities and diligently prosecuted government development agenda in a rather hostile opposition stronghold and backyard.
The KMA Boss thanked the NGO for the recognition and the honour done him. He dedicated the award to the President, Prof. John Atta Mills, the Asantehener, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the entire Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.
According to him, he had been inspired by the good counsel of the President to be the Mayor of Kumasi and not a section of the people or members of a particular political party, to meet the aspirations of the people.
He also mentioned the immense support he had enjoyed from the Asantehene and the Assembly as a whole. Mr. Sarpong said the citation he had been inspired by the citation and pledged to work even harder than before to ensure that development is brought to the entire Metropolis.
