Government committed to people with Disability-Candidate
Agona Swedru (C/R), Dec 28, GNA - The passage of the Disability Bill into law has clearly demonstrated that the government has the welfare of People with Disability (PWD) at heart.
Mr Charles Obeng-Inkoom, a Parliamentary candidate for the Agona West branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), said this at a get together organized for 100 physically challenged persons at Agona Swedru
The get-together was sponsored by Mr George Gyamfi, Managing Director (MD) of Boafo Yena Enterprise and Philanthropist.
They were drawn from Agona West, Gomoa East, Agona East and Gomoa West and each took home a 0half piece of cloth and 50 kilos of rice worth GH¢ 100.
Mr Obeng-Inkoom said the government has shown commitment by putting in place pragmatic policies and programmes that would provide adequate relief to the people with disability.
He said the government would ensure that Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies implement the law that would enhance a better life for people with Disability.
Mr Obeng-Inkoom commended Mr Gyamfi for his contributions towards the welfare of the physically-challenged persons.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Osei Shaibu, Agona Swedru District Police Commander, appealed to the people to feel free to give information about criminals in the Municipality.
He gave the assurance that such informants would have their identity protected, adding that, they could give such information to senior Officers if they do not trust the junior Officers.
Mr Gyamfi said he and his family decided to organise the party "to put a smile on the faces of the Disabled persons", in the four districts during the Christmas.
