Suame MP commissions two school blocks

Two six-unit  classroom blocks, which also comprise an office and a store each, have been provided for Maakro and Kronum in the Suame constituency in Kumasi by the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, who is also the Minority Leader in Parliament, Osei-Kyei Mensah-Bonsu.

The beneficiary schools of the projects are the Kronum Metro Assembly (M/A) Junior High School (JHS) and Maakro M/A JHS.

The two projects were completed at a cost of GH¢280,000, with funding from the MP's share of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETfund).

The projects add to 12 other schools projects facilitated by the Minority Leader in the constituency.

They include the Nuru Islamic Basic School, Suame Methodist Primary School, Maakro Metropolitan Assembly (M/A) Primary School, Bremang Roman Catholic (R/C) School, Kronum M/A Primary School and Allama Bil Qualam Islamic School.

Schools still under construction include the Anomanye M/A Basic School, Kwapra M/A Schools, Suame National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) and Kronum M/A Schools.

The Suame Methodist M/A Junior High School (JHS), Suame Salvation Army School, Suame Magazine St. Joseph's School and Bremang R/C Primary School among others have also been rehabilitated by the MP.

The Suame legislator appealed to parents, during the commissioning, to ensure that they played their roles of providing the needs of their wards for effective learning.

He also encouraged teachers to give off their best, to improve the quality of education in the country.

Mr. Adu Acheampong and Mrs. Diana Hagan, headteachers of Kronum and Maakro JHS respectively, expressed appreciation to the MP for helping ease congestion in their school with the provision of additional space.

They called for support in the acquisition of computers to enhance effective teaching and learning of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the schools.

The headteachers appealed for assistance towards the construction of a fence wall around the school to keep encroachers off the school area.
