Okoampa's Sense Of Shame Is Another Story!

Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe, Jr. has for over the past several years made several outlandish claims. I have had occasion to react to many. The most recent being “Nkrumah Did Not Invent The Verandah Boys”! (see "Nkrumah Did Not Invent The 'Verandah Boys!'", by Nana Akyea Mensah, Ghanaweb Feature Article of Monday, 8 August 2011). I am sure Okoampa chalked that out as an “occasional error”! From the horse's own mouth, the reason why there is so much fabrication of facts in his narratives is simply due to the sheer volume of his writings! He calls such monstrous fabrications, “occasional errors in documentary details” and even goes as far as to say, “There is also nothing to be ashamed about... for somebody who writes as much and as often as I do”!

Who has asked Okoampa to write so much that this could include garbage? Is he under a compulsion to write nonsense? It is unclear to me why Okoampa seems to enjoy the understandable opprobrium that his half-witted, half-baked opinions, and shoddy scholarship, Akyem-feudalistic mentality, provoke wherever and whenever he opens his mouth! From his own accounts, his writings about Danquah has never been taken seriously by anyone worth writing home about. Of those that he himself felt worthy of writing home about, none of them agreed with his anti-Nkrumah and pro-Danquah nonsense.

Okoampa writes in a recent article, "Another Propagandistic Twaddle", Feature Article of Wednesday, 12 October 2011, by Columnist: Okoampa-Ahoofe, Kwame:

"I must also hasten to add that contrary to what Mr. Nelson would have his readers believe, it was highly unlikely for Mr. Ebenezer Ako-Adjei to have been conferred with an honorary doctorate in 1962, when the man who introduced the future President Nkrumah to Dr. Danquah and the mainstream of modern Ghanaian politics was in prison facing the death penalty, having been charged for a dubious role in the Kulungugu assassination attempt on the life of the African Show Boy. Mr. Ako-Adjei was then President Nkrumah's own Foreign Affairs Minister! Talk of pathological paranoia!

Now, let me regale Mr. Nelson and his fellow Nkrumah fanatics with the real state of affairs vis-à-vis Lincoln University's awarding of the honorary doctorate to its most famous African alumnus. And it is simply as follows: In 1952, Messrs. Kwame Nkrumah, Kojo Botsio and Ebenezer Ako-Adjei were all conferred with the honorary doctorate by Pennsylvania's Lincoln University. It is also a matter of public record – personally attested by Mr. Cameron Duodu, the paternal uncle of mine who has categorically warned me at least twice by E-mail, not to publicly refer to him as such – that both Messrs. Ako-Adjei and Botsio had been expressly forbidden by the clinically megalomaniacal Mr. Nkrumah not to officially respond to their honorary doctoral degrees, as doing so would untowardly diminish the “Nkrumah Phenomenon” in the eyes of a largely unsuspecting Ghanaian populace. In other words, by capricious decree, Nkrumah ravenously craved to be envisaged as sui generis among his peers!" (See: "Another Propagandistic Twaddle", Feature Article of Wednesday, 12 October 2011, by Columnist: Okoampa-Ahoofe, Kwame.

When confronted with the facts by Ekow Nelson that:

“The only reason Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe suggested he was going to be "unusually brief” in his response to my article (“Dr. Danquah's Goebbels Debunked”, Ghanaweb.com 13th October 2011) is because he had little to say in his defence for the fabrications in his earlier pieces. If he had any sense, he would not have written anything at all! Instead, he showed us (in “Goebbels Really Belongs with the CPP!”, Ghanaweb.com 15th October 2011) that he is a self-obsessed narcissist who knows no shame.”

1. “How could Mr. Cameron Duodu suggest publicly, that Ebenezer Ako-Adjei accepted an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws from Lincoln University in 1962, and then “personally attest” to Dr. Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe's dubious claim that Kwame Nkrumah, Kojo Botsio and Ebenezer Ako-Adjei were all conferred with the honorary doctorate by Pennsylvania's Lincoln University at the same time in 1952 [sic]? Both cannot be right and one can only conclude that Dr. Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe's is pure fiction. The fact is his article was riddled with many errors and inaccuracies: 1. He claimed Ako Adjei was awarded an honorary degree with Nkrumah in 1952; He was not! It was in 1962;

2. He claimed Nkrumah forbade Ako Adjei and Kojo Botsio from using their honorific titles in 1952; Wrong again! Ako Adjei did not receive an honorary degree in 1952 so Nkrumah could NOT have forbidden him from using the title! He was an opposition member then;

3. He claimed Cameron Duodu as the authoritative source for this information. Mr. Duodu has denied it and his tribute to Ako Adjei appears to vindicate him. Dr. Okoampa-Ahoofe lied!;

4. He claimed Ako Adjei was in detention at the time I claimed the award was made. He is wrong! The award was in June 1962 and he was arrested in August 1962 - and the latter comes after the former; and,

5. He now claims I agreed with him that Ako Adjei accepted his award in absentia. He neither made such a suggestion nor have I agreed with him. Rather than confront these untruths, the brazen liar, Dr. Okoampa-Ahoofe, indulges in his favourite sport of CPP bashing, hiding behind weasel words and ropey history to divert attention. He then descends into irrelevant personal history to prove a familial connection with Cameron Duodu. If I were him I would apologize to Cameron Duodu and to his own readers, whom he has let down very badly. But does this latter-day Goebbels have the humility to do the decent thing?”

Okoampa's Comment: “Humiliation For What?”
“The thrust of the original argument regarded whether it was legitimate to address or prefix the name of the late President Nkrumah with "Mr." rather than "Dr." which I promptly put paid to.

There is also nothing to be ashamed about vis-a-vis occasional errors in documentary details for somebody who writes as much and as often as I do.

Then also, regarding my kinship with Mr. Cameron Duodu, I offer no proof than my own father's assertion of the fact that Mr. Duodu's own mother "Maafio," and my paternal grandfather, Opanyin Gyimah, were first cousins. If this also is an insufferable insult, the I readily apologize to Mr. Duosu.

Other than the preceding, I see absolutely no merit in the guff that a creatively challenged Mr. Nelson has produced here. (Submitted Unedited).”

I thought as much! I knew you would even wonder what a "sense of shame" even means! What kind of stupid question is that? Don't you have any sense of shame? Do you want us to baby-sit and spoon-feed you here? Do you want it written in black and white, exactly what you need to be ashamed of? God have mercy! Why are you pushing it? You think it is for nothing that you are being exposed for what you really are? We know where you are coming from! Did you really write this the following:

"There is also nothing to be ashamed about vis-a-vis occasional errors in documentary details for somebody who writes as much and as often as I do"?

The one who is responsible for putting so much pressure on Okoampa to feel the compulsion to write, sense or nonsense, fact or fiction, confused or lucid, must put an end to it! If on the other hand, Okoampa is doing this on his own, then he must know when to call it quits!

The attempt to present Nkrumah as so "clinically megalomaniacal" that he had "expressly forbidden" "both Messrs. Ako-Adjei and Botsio" "not to officially respond to their honorary doctoral degrees, as doing so would untowardly diminish the “Nkrumah Phenomenon” in the eyes of a largely unsuspecting Ghanaian populace."

Is this not shameful if such an event could not have occurred, in that a) Ako-Adjei was not even in Nkrumah's entourage, and b) neither Ako-Adjei nor Botsio was awarded the degrees Okoampa is busy and confidently attributing at that time!

Okoampa lost the argument even before he began it! Okoampa has no sense of shame, and cares less about public opinion. He is happy to infuriate ethnic groups through arrogance, ignorance, and insensitivity. A glance at the comments section of his articles show clearly he is no vote-catcher for any candidate associated with him! On the contrary, people are so angry with him that I think we need to keep him to continue to do the damage to the Akufo-Addo campaign. As usual, I am sure Akufo-Addo will realize this only when it is too late!

Forward Ever! Backwards Never!!!
Cheers!
