London 2012 Olympics - 5,463 Tickets For Ghana

Ghana has received a total of 5,463 tickets that will be distributed to fans intending to travel to the United Kingdom for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The number is subject to review depending on how fast Ghanaians are able to patronise the available tickets expected to be distributed by African Origin Travel and Sports Tourism, the sole accredited travel and tour agent for the Olympic Games scheduled for London next year.

This was made known yesterday when the British High Commissioner, Peter Jones, briefed the media at the British Council Hall, Accra, about plans and preparations ahead of the games and said they were ready for the anticipated huge applicants who would want to travel for the games.

The High Commissioner, dispelled suggestions that the processing fees charged by his outfit were expensive, insisting that what Ghanaians pay as visa processing fee was among the cheapest in the world.

He said the about GH200 paid here as visa fee was reasonable giving the work that goes into the processing of application forms and entreated Ghanaians to avoid rush by applying on time.

Mr Jones noted that London was looking forward to seeing Ghana after the sanctions on her were lifted and promised that very remarkable structures had been put in place for the games.

According to the High Commissioner, new venues had been completed to host the games and added that they intended to make the games the greenest in it's history.

Seth Appiah Agyekum, Protocol Officer at High the Commission, noted that following the lifting of sanctions on Ghana by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) they decided to partner the Ghana Olympic Committee to make information available about places of interest in the UK

He urged Ghanaians to explore the various tourists sites in UK and stated that the business world of UK would be available to brief Ghanaians about business opportunities while in the UK
