MTN Beautifies Ridge Hospital

As part of its employee volunteering programme dubbed, '21 Days of Y'ello Care,' MTN staff volunteers have painted the Dental Department of the Ridge Hospital in Accra.

The volunteers, who turned up in their numbers, also removed cobwebs and cleared the surroundings of the department.

This year's 21 Days of Y'ello Care, which was slated from 1-21 June, was celebrated under the theme: 'Our Environment, Our Future that was chosen after the United Nation (UN) declared 2011 as the 'International Year of Forest.'

About 30,000 MTN employees across 21 operating countries are expected to grow 21, 000 trees, a minimum of 1000 trees per country.

However, MTN Ghana has exceeded that figure by planting 9000 trees in honour of its 9 million subscribers.

Godfred Atopley, a staff of MTN and Steering Committee member of this year's '21 Days of Y'ello Care,' stated that 'giving our theme for this year which is focused on the environment, we thought it wise to paint the Ridge Hospital to make it look clean and bright.'

He added that MTN also believes that the environment plays an important role in the healing process of the sick, hence the need to beautify the surroundings.

Dr. Obeng Apori, Medical Director at Ridge Hospital, commended MTN for their continuous support to the hospital.

He called for more assistance from organizations and individuals to help the hospital deliver quality health care.
