UT Bank Boss Grabs New Award
Prince Kofi Amoabeng, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the UT Group, was on Friday adjudged the overall Best Entrepreneur for the year 2010 at the maiden Ghana Entrepreneur Awards.
The awards was organized by the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana in collaboration with the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry under the theme, 'Recognizing the Exceptional Contribution of Ghanaian Entrepreneurs'.
It also marked the World Entrepreneurship Day, which is a global celebration of entrepreneurship and innovation.
The Ghana Entrepreneurs Awards 2010 is an initiative to honour, inspire and recognize the exceptional achievements of Ghanaian entrepreneurs who have excelled at developing successful businesses, generating employment and contributing to the growth of the country's economy.
Mr Amoabeng commended Ghanaian entrepreneurs for their contributions to national development in spite of the dwindling economic environment, noting that 'these are the people who hold the economy of the country through the payment of taxes and creation of jobs and their contribution to national development cannot be overemphasized.'
He thanked the organizers for recognizing the contributions of entrepreneurs in the country and expressed the hope that such awards will be sustained to attract more young people into entrepreneurship.
He dedicated his award to the hard working staff of UT and all other entrepreneurs who worked hard but could not make it to the award list.'
He was among a number of outstanding Ghanaian entrepreneurs who excelled in their fields of endeavour including Alhaji Dr Asoma Banda, Chairman of the Antrak Group of companies; Roland Agambire, CEO of RLG Communications, Michael Agyekum Addo, Chairman of the Kama Group Ghana; Elizabeth Villars, CEO of Camelot Ghana, Ken Ofori Atta-CEO of Databank as well as Kwesi Twum, CEO of Multimedia Broadcasting Company, among others.
