Professor Mike Aaron Oquaye, the New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya has defended the decision by his son, Mike Oquaye Junior to contest in tomorrow's primary, and subsequently represent the constituency in parliament.

According to him, delegates should look at his records, instead of the 'father and son' propaganda being made.

Speaking to journalists, after leading them to inspect projects he has initiated, ever since he became MP for the area, Prof. Oquaye said he has done a lot and that his son must also be given the chance to continue from where he left.

According to him, it would be wrong for the handlers of the Black Stars to ignore Dede Ayew, just because Abedi Pele is his father. He noted that if Dede is a good player, he must be fielded.

The MP, who is also the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, told journalists that he has almost completed an ultra modern Information and Communication Technology (ICT), which would be commissioned in September at the cost of GH¢150,000  to serve the people.

The Dome-Kwabenya MP said the ICT project would be key to the nation's industrialization, hence the decision to build the centre. According to him, he imported the idea about the ICT project from India, where he served as Ghana's High Commissioner, to empower the youth.

'They will come here and borrow books and read them.  I have got 500 books standing by to commence the library project. It is very useful to let the society know what kind of good work is going on in the constituency, so that others will subscribe to it'.

He cited that apart from the ICT center, a playing ground would be developed to attract the youth to patronize the facility much more often.

The Second Deputy Speaker of parliament also told the journalists that he has built a police station and hospital, which would also be commissioned soon, to help address the security and health needs of the people.

The former Energy and Communication Minister, further mentioned electrification and road projects he had supported to make life better for his constituents.

A physically challenged man, Mr. Alex Hodor, who has benefited from Prof. Mike's Oquaye's educational scholarship fund for Tertiary education, urged Members of Parliaments in the various constituencies to emulate the shining example of the MP.

According to Hotor, but for the support which was given to him by Prof. Oquaye, he would not have been able to complete his education at  the University of Education, Winneba, let alone to become a teacher.
