Saboba MP embarks on infrastructure development agenda

February 04, 2011 Accra, Feb. 4, GNA - Mr Joseph Bukari Nikpe, Member of Parliament for the Saboba constituency in the Northern Region, has initiated several development projects in the constituency to improve the living conditions of the people.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency on Friday in Accra, Mr Nikpe said the projects were being undertaken partly with funds from his share of the MP's Common Fund.

According to him, more than GH¢150,000 from the Fund had been injected into the projects to execute infrastructural works in sectors such as education, health, roads and sanitation in the past two years in.

Specifically, he said, the projects comprised the construction of girls' hostile at the St. Joseph's Technical Training school, the construction of a six-classroom block complex with an office attached, a Kumasi Ventilation Improved Project (KVIP) and a urinal at the Kuncha Primary School.

Other projects included the construction of a dormitory block complex at the E.P. Senior High School, rehabilitation of nurses' quarters at Wapuli and Gbangbapong, rehabilitation of a Community Health Projects (CHPS) compound at Kuncha and also construction of a walkway to link the female ward to the newly constructed children's ward of the Saboba Medical Centre.

Mr Nikpe said he had also assisted in the supply of furniture and other equipment to schools and health institutions.

He mentioned the supply of 100 double-decker beds to the E.P Senior High School and the donation of a deep freezer to the Ghana Education Service (GES) as well as distributing sporting equipment and jerseys to schools and communities to enhance sports development.

Mr Nikpe said infrastructure development, education and health and sanitation were paramount in his agenda and that he would continue to use any available funds for development and advised the constituents to support him to develop the area.

He appealed to the electorate to remain committed to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and stop any acts of division to ensure that the party succeeds in its "Better Ghana Agenda" by exerting good governance to Ghanaians.
