CELEBRATION OF AFRICAN LANDMARK ACHIEVEMENTS – VITAL TO SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.
The Group CEO of Y. Kumey International Group Limited, a Real Estate and Property Management Company, Mr. Yaw Kumey, says the celebrations of the landmark achievements of Africans should not be seen as a passing event but rather a lifeline for the youth to imbibe their legacies for centuries to come.
Mr. Kumey was speaking on the group's decision to join hands with other corporate organizations to lend technical and financial support to one of Ghana's most prestigious awards, the Millennium Excellence Award (MEA).
MEA is organised every five (5) years to acknowledge and celebrate distinction in the society by individuals, groups and organizations both local and foreign in the areas of Academia, Literature, Science, Humanitarian Cause, Charitable Initiatives, Social Service, Religion the Arts, Sports and Politics.
According to him, the Group deemed it paramount to support such the MEA because of its believe in the total growth and development of the country, and the African continent as a whole.
It noted that though Ghana and for that matter Africa continues to battle with some challenges, it has undoubtedly recorded substantial growths that cut across all sectors of the economies of the various states.
It said these successes were not achieved on a silver platter but through the hardwork of people who have relentlessly sacrificed their lives, toiled and served tirelessly to contribute to the socio-economic development of Ghana particularly and Africa at large.
The company therefore congratulated the organizers for coming out with such a scheme to celebrate the exceptional achievements of the African Spirit.
“The African continent is endowed with a lot of intellectuals and creativity which should not be left uncelebrated because such personalities are hard to find on continent and even the world”, according to Mr. Kumey.
It stressed that celebrating personalities for their landmark achievements should not be seen as a passing event but an opportunity to spur the youth on to imbibe their legacies for centuries to come.
