Kumasi Gives Odotei 'Red Card'

KING FAISAL CEO Vincent Sowah Odotei's hopes of canvassing support in Kumasi for his GFA presidential bid has failed woefully, as residents in the city seem to have faith in the incumbent administration.

Fans in the Garden City urged Mr. Odotei to stay aside to enable the Lawyer Kwesi Nyantakyi-led administration to continue with their good works for Ghana soccer.

Minutes after announcing his intentions to oust Kwesi Nyantakyi on Kessben FM in Kumasi, soccer fans called into the programme, admonishing the King Faisal CEO to rescind his decision immediately.

Among those that called into the programme were famous football followers in the Garden City like Julius Agahowa, Oboy Mickey and Baba Ali, just to mention a few.

Giving an assessment of the performance of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) under Mr. Nyantakyi, Oboy Mickey said, “I will give them 95 percent and they need another term to add the five percent.”

He added that since Lawyer Nyantakyi has proven to be effective so far, people like Mr. Odotei should rally behind him to continue to take Ghana soccer to the next level.

On his part, Baba Ali, who sounded furious upon learning about Mr. Odotei's intentions, noted, “This is sheer jealousy on the part of Mr. Odotei.”

He maintained that Mr. Nyantakyi is on the right track and wondered why Mr. Odotei wants to adopt foul means to get him removed from office.

According to Baba Ali, Mr. Odotei could not mention any single thing that he could bring on board to help Ghana soccer “but only made unfounded allegations against the current GFA which is rather doing exceptionally well”. Julius Agahowa commended the current GFA for qualifying Ghana to two successive World Cups, asking, “What again should Mr. Nyantakyi do to prove that he is the best for the country?”
