Boost For Investors On GSE
Global investors will now obtain adequate information from the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) after Thomson Reuters commenced a daily real-time data feed from the Accra Bourse yesterday.
The collaboration between GSE and renowned Thomson Reuters is expected to increase equity trading opportunities for local and global clients.
The move would further expose all the 36 listed companies on the Accra Bourse.
Thomson Reuters also provides daily real-time data feed from the Kenya's Nairobi Stock Exchange and the Nigeria Stock Exchange, a statement said.
Before this initiative, the GSE market data provided by Thomson Reuters was updated once after the close of day,” it added.
Applauding the initiative, Kofi Yamoah, Managing Director of GSE, pointed out that the collaboration between his outfit and Reuters formed part of efforts to expose the GSE to global investors, stressing that it decided to migrate from manual to electronic trading some two years ago.
“When we establish the automated trading, we wanted to improve liquidity, bring efficiency and enhance competitiveness. Today's collaboration with Reuters is a landmark association,” he stated.
He added that the platform would enable GSE to reach out to more global investors through the live data.
“We are committed to disseminating market information and relationships and we are starting with Thompson Reuters, and it can only serve to improve the attractiveness of Ghana's stock market to investors.”
For his part, Busisa Jiya, Senior Company Officer for Africa, Thomson Reuters said, “This development by Thomson Reuters enhances accessibility of global investors to the Ghana Stock Exchange's data, thereby reinforcing market transparency.
It allows Thomson Reuters' clients to make effective trading decisions using real-time prices, and to increase the equity trading opportunities for our global clients who are investing in Ghana.
“We are committed to Africa and to introducing more real-time data feeds to other African stock exchanges as the financial market develops.”
