Soldiers in Kumasi Celebrated June 4th By Beating Policemen in Kumasi.

The Fourth Garrison Soldiers in Kumasi celebrated June 4th by going on rampage to brutally beating some policemen at various duty posts in the Kumasi metropolis and leaving three of the Policemen unconscious.

In their two-day assault, the soldiers also vandalized properties at some police stations and caused some policemen to run away while on duty posts.

According to Chief Inspector Yusif Mohammed Tanko, the director of the Public Affairs of the Ashanti Regional Police Command in Kumasi, the series of attacks began at the Cedar Crescent traffic lights, near the Asante Kotoko training ground, about 4 p.m. last Friday.

According to sources some policeman was alleged to have first assaulted a military man on a motorbike after the soldier had shown the policeman his identity card that he was from the military.
