GH¢2000 reward for Johnson Kombian's capture
The Northern Regional Police Command has announced a GH¢2000-reward for anyone with information leading to the capture of Johnson Kombian, also known as 'Boga,' who escape from the Tamale Regional Prisons over the weekend.
The police, who have already launched investigations into the escape, say they suspect foul play in his escape.
Police sources say he is believed to be hiding in one of the villages surrounding Tamale and that a serious search is being conducted for him.
According to a Ghana News Agency report, Kombia's escape occurred in the early hours of Saturday. He was alleged to have escape by climbing a water tanker which enabled him to scale over the walls of the prison.
Information available suggests that the convict first broke jail in 2005.
At the time of his escape, Johnson Kombia was serving a five-year jail term for breaking jail twice and also for robbery and death threats.
The Northern Regional Police Commander, ACP Angwubutoge Awuni, told Citi News that, he earlier recommended the transfer of Johnson to the Nsawam Prison because the convict had escaped twice from prison as security for the him was weak.
He said he got assurances from the Tamale Prison Service that the prison would find a much secured place for the convict.
ACP Awuni said there was no breakage, a situation which raise suspicion of a connivance.
