….But Still Folds Under Rawlings' Pressure!
President John Evans Atta Mills ignominiously capitulated to the bombing missions from former President Rawlings and ordered all his ministers and appointees to bend over backwards to grant favours to only members of his party, in clear contravention of his much quoted claim that he would be President for all!
In answer to mounting pressure from his party's Founder and members that they had been ignored, President Atta Mills ordered that his appointees should do all that they can to grant the requests of party members in so far as they are 'legitimate'.
An analyst yesterday wondered why these so-called party members cannot take their 'legitimate' demands to the ordinary organs of state like all Ghanaians, instead of receiving a special dispensation from the President to go to his appointees for favour, adding that the attempts by the president's men to portray him as independent-minded has finally bitten the dust.
“As we suspected, when Rawlings roars, the President starts shaking. Just last week we heard the former President mounting an attack on the President on this matter, and it is shocking that in less than a week, the President has folded and has taken this drastic step of actually ordering his entire government to see to the needs of his party members alone! This is unacceptable!” our analyst said.
The President's decision to create special conditions for his party members instead of the generality of Ghanaians has raised many eyebrows in some quarters. They have started to wonder whether, when the President told Ghanaians on his day of inauguration that he would be a President for all, he really meant his words!
During his inauguration, President told Ghanaians that he would be a President for all, but of late, even his own party members have started to complain that they feel ignored, leading to a direct attack on him by party Founder Jerry John Rawlings.
“The President is in office to work to improve the lot of all Ghanaians and not his party members alone, and it is unacceptable that he would decide to concentrate the government of Ghana only on improving the lives of his party members alone,” said our analyst.
