Government urged to issue oil policies

The Acting Head of Labour, Research and Policy Institute of the TUC, Kwabena Nyarko Otoo, has advised government to put in place all the necessary policies and legislation before beginning commercial production of oil next year.

Speaking to Radio Ghana, Mr. Nyarko Otoo said, oil producing countries like Norway began commercial production of oil 15 years after they discovered oil and had in place policies for oil production.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nyarko Otoo has cautioned Ghanaians to guard against the proliferation of institutions claiming to be providing skills training and employment in the oil industry.

He has therefore asked the public to report any unaccredited organization to the authorities since their main aim is to make money rather than offering the requisite knowledge to facilitate the oil business.

Mr. Nayarko Otoo told Radio Ghana that, some of the institutions organize lectures in Junior High School classrooms in the Central and Western Regions.
