You're God's Property

You're God's Property

For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's ().

Have you ever bought anything before? Whatever it was you bought, I'm sure you had some expectations of it. For example, if you bought a car, you expected it to deliver speed and comfort to you. On your part, you knew you had to service it regularly, fuel it and ensure proper maintenance. It's the same thing with God and you. The Bible says He bought you with a price. As a result, there are things He expects from you, and He also has certain responsibilities towards you.

If you're born again, you don't own yourself: "... ye are not your own"

(). God paid a high price for you, the blood of His Son Jesus. Therefore, as the Bible says, you should glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are His. This means that you ought to serve Him diligently, and submit yourself to His Lordship. Understand that God knows how to take care of what belongs to Him. Since He owns you, it's His responsibility to protect, keep, bless, help, promote and provide for you.

This understanding inspired David's words in , where he declared "The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.” David understood that as a child of God, you shouldn't lack anything good because God is your bread-provider. If you wouldn't even let your pet at home go hungry, don't you think God wants to do even more for you whom He loves? Meditate on the fact that you're God's property today, and you'll no longer despair or be frustrated in your life.

Confession

Lord, I belong to you, spirit, soul and body! You're my life and in you I live, move and have my being. I rejoice that I belong to a caring and loving Father as you, and I commit myself to only doing things that bring you honour and glory.
