Ambassador-Designates asked to protect Ghanaian interest Abroad

Ambassadors and High Commissioners designated to various countries have been cautioned to make the interest of Ghanaian citizens abroad paramount in the discharge of their duties. The Foreign Affairs Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni was speaking at a 10-day induction seminar for Ambassadors and High Commissioners designates in Accra.  

In all thirty-nine Ambassadors, six High Commissioners and a Consular General are attending the seminar.  Alhaji Mumuni said as Heads of Mission, it is prudent for them to exhibit high sense of commitment to the purpose for which the President has appointed them.  

The Foreign Minister said the induction seminar aims to groom the appointees on the need to promote Ghana's foreign policies and credentials across the world. He also touched on challenges facing some foreign missions saying financial constraint is a major factor.  He said this situation contributes to the inability of missions to carry out their programmes.  He hoped these challenges would be addressed soon.

In his remarks the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Chris Kpodo congratulated the Heads of Missions on their appointment.  He believes that with their experience and expertise on foreign related issues, the appointees would deliver.

He also promised government's support to enable them to attract investors for Ghana and enhance Ghana's image across the globe.  Past High Commissioners and Ambassadors were present to share their experiences and serve as resource persons before they begin official duties.
