Chereponi MP Goes Home
The late New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP for Chereponi, , will be buried in her constituency on Monday August 10, 2009.
This was announced at the Castle when the family and leadership in Parliament called on President Atta Mills to formally inform him about the death of the MP.
Doris Seidu, 40 and a Muslim, died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital after a protracted illness.
The delegation to the Castle was led by the Majority Leader Alban Bagbin who paid a glowing tribute to the late MP for the work she had done in her constituency, Chereponi, Parliament and Ghana as a whole.
A statement from the Castle said the President expressed his deepest condolences to the family of the late MP, her constituents and the Minority in Parliament.
The President said the state appreciates the work of the late MP and her ability to bring people together and ensure peace in her constituency, and assured the family that the government will be fully represented at the funeral and support the family with any assistance that they will require. Other members of the delegation included Foreign Minister Mohammed Mumuni; Eugenia Kusi; Ambrose Dery, Deputy Minority leader; Ben Aryee; John Baloro, MP for Lambushie; and other former Members of Parliament.
