Remain Focussed - Prez Mills
President John Atta Mills has reminded his appointees to remain focussed and stay the course in their bid to execute the country's development agenda.
In a letter distributed to all ministers, municipal and district chief executives, board chairmen and heads of government institutions, the President said “six months into the mandate given us to build a better Ghana, it is extremely important that we stay the course in the bid to execute our development agenda”.
The President said “having campaigned on the platform of change, and as a social democratic party, we must never lose sight of one of our core values, modesty”.
President Mills said the positions being occupied by the appointees were positions of trust, and urged them not to allow the confidence reposed in them to wane as a result of acts that did not sit well with the electorate.
“We are managing the affairs of state not as a right, but as a privilege to deliver on our 'Better Ghana' pledge and we dare not fail,” he said.
The President charged them to endeavour to inspire hope and confidence in the people by letting the national interest prevail above their personal interest.
“Our commitment to change must not resonate only by word, more importantly, it must resonate by deed,” he stressed.
He said the values they stood for, as well as their commitment to the party's manifesto pledge of managing the affairs of the state in an, open, truthful and transparent manner, must be demonstrated through their action, since they served as conduits through which “we can invest in our people, build a strong economy and expand infrastructure”.
