NPP youth want Organiser as Obuasi MCE
A number of Associations in the Obuasi Municipality of the Ashanti Region are currently engaged in a strong lobbying campaign for Amoako Otchere, the Obuasi Constituency Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, to be considered for the vacant position of the Municipal Chief Executive.
The latest to join the campaign is the Obuasi Youth Wing of the NPP.Their appeal follows media reports that the youth organizer is one of the candidates vying for the MCE vacant position.
In a press release, the party's youth called on President Agyekum Kufuor to as a matter of urgency consider Amoako Otchere for the MCE position because to them, he is the right man and a unifier who can reconcile the party in the constituency and bring total developmental in the municipality.
They however cautioned the party hierarchy and the President that anything less than choosing the youth organizer could greatly tear the party apart and could offer the chance to the opposition to win in both the parliamentary and the presidential elections in December.
The release, which had over 80 signatories stressed, "We the undersigned members of the Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party in Obuasi pledge our sincere and total support for the nomination of our constituency Youth Organizer, Samuel Amoako Otchere, as the MCE for Obuasi".
To them, Mr. Otchere is respectful, understands and knows at first hand the developmental issues of the municipality and if given the chance, he will positively change the destiny of the youth as well as the entire municipality in no time.
"Mr. Otchere is youthful but mature in thinking and this is seen from the selfless role he played and continues to play before and during his university education, first as TESCON executive, polling station chairman and currently Obuasi constituency youth organizer of our dear party", the youth maintained in the release.
"Above all these qualities, he is a development planner from KNUST and since the problems facing the municipality are developmental, he could be of great benefit to the development agenda of the assembly,"' hey stressed.
