A group calling itself concerned citizens of Ghana have sued the Government over its intended sale of 70 percent state interest to UK telecoms operator, Vodafone.

Spokesman for the concerned citizens group, Bright Akwetey, told Joy News they want the court to revoke the deal altogether and they have notified the Attorney General's Office of the suit.

Government has described the deal that will see Vodafone pay 900 million dollars for the majority share as the best to save the ailing GT, however there have been several opposition to the deal, currently before parliament awaiting consideration and ratification.

Bright Akwetey told Joy News, “We want to know who and who bid for Ghana Telecom, and what were their bids and who evaluated the bids and why Vodafone, and we are asking the court to dissolve the Enlarged Ghana Telecom that has been created. What is Enlarged Ghana Telecom? If we go to the Registrar Generals Office and there is no company called Enlarged Ghana Telecom, then this agreement is unlawful.”
