Timothy Ansah Is Dead

The death is announced in Axim, of Mr Timothy Ansah, former Member of Parliament in the First Republic and second headmaster of Kwame Nkrumah (now Nsein) Secondary School.

Mr Ansah, popularly known as Timo, died on Sunday morning in Axim. He was 92.

A family spokesperson said funeral arrangements will be announced later.

Mr Ansah was MP for Tarkwa and Aboso in the First Republic, and later became assistant headmaster of Fijai Secondary School, Sekondi.

He then moved to Axim to become the second headmaster of the then Kwame Nkrumah Secondary School and remained its head until 1974 when he retired.

Mr Ansah is best remembered for his prowess as a musician, composing some of Ghana’s patriotic anthems and popular songs, such as ‘Momoane Beyennzo’ in Nzema, ‘Dzin Pa Sen Ahonya’.

He took part in the contest for the selection of the National Anthem.
