NPP delegates chose Kojo Bamba because they don’t want a repeat of 2024 intimidation – Fahd Osman
A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) national communications team, Dr Fahd Osman, says Kojo Bamba’s election as the party’s First National Vice Chairman reflects the concerns of the party’s grassroots following the 2024 general elections.
He said NPP delegates were particularly attracted to Kojo Bamba’s message of protecting the party’s members and ensuring that they are not subjected to what he described as intimidation during elections.
“I was a delegate. It is a reflection of the base of our party. That’s a true reflection of the base of our party," he said on Accra-based Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana programme on Thursday, October 8.
According to him, Mr Bamba’s simple campaign message resonated with delegates because of their experiences during the 2024 elections.
Dr Osman cited an incident at Wenchi, where he claimed NPP members were prevented from accessing a collation centre after individuals he described as NDC supporters entered the facility.
He also referred to alleged disruptions at collation centres in Techiman and other parts of the country, arguing that such experiences had influenced the choices of NPP delegates.
“So if somebody comes to us and promises that I’m going to ensure that we will not be beaten again, I’m going to vote for that person,” he said.
Dr Osman also rejected criticisms that Kojo Bamba lacked the political sophistication to win a national election within the NPP.
He argued that Kojo Bamba’s victory demonstrated that he was capable of developing a message that connected with delegates and effectively campaigning across the party.
