GACL conducts exercise 'Falcon Eye' to test aviation security preparedness

The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) is set to conduct a major aviation security exercise dubbed “Exercise Falcon Eye” to assess the effectiveness of emergency and security response systems at the airport.

The exercise, which will simulate an act of unlawful interference with airport operations, is aimed at testing the Airport Contingency Plan (ACP) and Airport Emergency Plan (AEP), key frameworks designed to guide responses to security and emergency incidents within the aviation sector.

According to GACL, the simulation will evaluate the readiness of the Emergency Operations Centre, the effectiveness of decision-making processes, communication and information dissemination systems, as well as the response capabilities of emergency and security agencies.

The exercise will bring together a wide range of stakeholders in the aviation and security sectors, including the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), airline operators, the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana National Fire Service, the National Ambulance Service, the Ghana Army, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), the Ghana Immigration Service, and the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

GACL noted that the exercise forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen coordination, preparedness, and response among airport stakeholders while improving Ghana’s overall capacity to manage aviation security emergencies.
