I was never asked to give up NPP 1st National Vice Chair position – Kojo Bamba

First National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kojo Fosu Boadu, popularly known as Kojo Bamba, has denied reports that there was an attempt to alter the order of the party’s vice chairmanship positions after the national elections.

According to him, he was not approached by the party’s leadership to give up his position as First National Vice Chairman for either Henry Nana Boakye or Nana Akomea.

Kojo Bamba was elected First National Vice Chairman at the NPP’s National Delegates Conference, while Henry Nana Boakye and Nana Akomea secured the second and third positions respectively.

Reports subsequently emerged that there had been an arrangement for Kojo Bamba to occupy the third position, with Nana Akomea and Henry Nana Boakye moving up to the first and second positions.

However, reacting to the reports in a video sighted by ModernGhana News on Wednesday, October 7, Kojo Bamba dismissed the claims as untrue.

“Also, the rumours that I was engaged by the party leadership to leave the First National Chairman position to Nana B or Nana Akomea, is not true. Everyone was pleased with the position they got,” he said.

He said there were no disagreements among the three newly elected vice chairpersons and stressed that all candidates who contested the election had contributed to the party’s democratic process.

He added that the focus of the new national leadership should now be on rebuilding the party and working towards winning power from the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2028 general elections.

“There are no issues between us. After this election, the role of the new leadership is to give you glory by capturing power from the National Democratic Congress,” Kojo Bamba said.

The NPP elected new national executives at its National Delegates Conference held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on October 3.
