Boakye Agyarko urges NPP members to close ranks after national delegates conference

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman hopeful, Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman hopeful, Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko, has urged members of the party to put the recent internal contest behind them and unite around the party’s leadership ahead of the 2028 general election.

Mr Agyarko made the call in a congratulatory statement to John Boadu, who was elected National Chairman at the party’s National Delegates Conference in Kumasi last Saturday, as well as the other newly elected national executives.

He said the conclusion of the national executive elections marked the end of the internal competition and should usher in a period of consolidation as the party prepares for the next general election.

Mr Agyarko pledged his support to Mr Boadu, the newly elected national executive committee and the NPP’s flag bearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

He said he was prepared to work with the party’s leadership and grassroots members across all 16 regions to secure what he described as a “total, decisive victory” for the NPP in the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections.

The former chairman hopeful also expressed gratitude to his campaign team, volunteers, constituency executives and delegates who supported his bid throughout the contest.

He said the sacrifices and commitment of his supporters would not be wasted, describing the internal election as a family affair that should not leave lasting divisions within the party.

Mr Agyarko consequently called on members to heal any wounds from the contest and present a united front as the party turns its attention to the 2028 elections.

He also commended the NPP National Elections Committee, the Electoral Commission and the security services for what he described as a smooth, transparent and peaceful national delegates conference.
