MTN unveils exciting line-up for 2026 Suncity Festival

MTN Ghana, a telecommunication company, has launched the 2026 Suncity Festival, with a renewed pledge to deliver excellent telecommunication services to subscribers.

Mr Obed Adu Amankwaa, the Regional Sales Manager of MTN Ghana who gave the pledge also assured the company’s dedication to offer life-changing rewards to loyal customers as the company marks its 30 years anniversary.

He noted that over the three decades, MTN had remained committed to connecting people, supporting communities and enabling progress in local communities.

“From our early days as Spacefon, through Areeba, to the MTN we know today, our journey has been shaped by innovation, resilience, partnership and the loyalty of our customers,” Mr Amankwaa stated at a ceremony in Sunyani.

He explained that over the years, MTN had introduced transformational services including GSM, Mobile Money, enterprise and digital solutions and also invested significantly in its network to provide customers with stable network and internet connectivity.

Mr Amankwaa stated that the company supported essential services during challenging periods like COVID-19, and delivered close to 200 social impact projects across health, education and economic empowerment.

“These projects have been executed as our contribution to national development and these milestones remind us that our growth has always been connected to the growth of the communities we serve”.

Touching on the Suncity Festival Mr Amankwaa stated that the event remained one of MTN’s key regional platforms for connecting with communities, celebrating local culture, and rewarding customers.

He said it further strengthened relationships with traditional leaders, businesses, youth groups and other stakeholders.

Mr Amankwaa added that the 2026 celebration brought a rich blend of activities designed to entertain, engage, support and celebrate the people of Bono Region.

Some of the activities include walkathon, free health screening, music concert as well as an inter-community football gala.

The inter-community football Gala would be held at the Twene Amanfo SHS Park in Sunyani from September 26 to October 11 2026 and would feature local teams from Sunyani Area One, Sunyani Area Two, Newtown, Zongo, Kotokrom and Baakoniaba and Nkwabeng.

Mr Amankwaa said all these among other activities reinforced the MTN’s commitment to appreciating customers for their loyalty and support.

Mr Kwame Baa Mensa, the Bono Regional Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA) commended the MTN for the festival, saying that sports development was not a fan anymore, but a platform to showcase talents and career.

He said the government remained committed to developing sports in the region, saying assuring that plans were far advanced for President John Dramani Mahama to cut the sod for the construction of a new sports stadium in the Sunyani Municipality in early October 2026.

Mr Ransford Antwi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Suncity Group of Companies and local organiser of the festival, also commended MTN for its dedication to sustaining the celebration of the Suncity Fest over the past 10 years.

He called on the public to participate in all the events outlined for the celebration, urging subscribers to remain loyal to MTN.
