“My grade was better than my friend’s, yet he got Opoku Ware” — JHS graduate cries over placement
A Junior High School (JHS) graduate has reportedly expressed disappointment over the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) after discovering that a friend with what she described as a lower grade secured admission to Opoku Ware School while she was placed in a different school.
According to the student, she expected her academic performance to give her a better chance of securing admission to one of his choices.
"My grade was better than my friend’s, yet he got Opoku Ware,” she lamented.
However, placement into highly competitive schools is not necessarily based solely on the aggregate obtained. Other factors, including the candidate’s selected school choices, programme preferences, available vacancies and the placement criteria applicable in a particular year, can influence the outcome.
