Tempane Assembly presents livelihood support to 71 Persons With Disabilities
The Tempane District Assembly has presented livelihood support items valued at GH¢333,662.50 to 71 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the district.
The items, which include motor tricycles popularly known as motor kings, wheelchairs, deep freezers, small ruminants and various assistive devices, are intended to help beneficiaries expand their existing businesses, acquire new skills, improve productivity and generate sustainable incomes.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony held in August 2026, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Tempane, Hon. Mbilla Joseph Ayaaba said the initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to promoting inclusion, social justice and equal opportunities for all.
He noted that every individual, regardless of physical ability, possesses unique talents, skills and the potential to contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of the district and the country.
According to the DCE, the government remains committed to improving the welfare of PWDs through various interventions, including the allocation of a portion of the District Assemblies Common Fund to support their empowerment, promote self-reliance, reduce poverty and enhance their participation in community development.
He disclosed that the Assembly had supported 289 beneficiaries from 2025 to date, with the latest intervention being the third disbursement in 2026.
The DCE commended the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development and the District Disability Fund Management Committee for their dedication and commitment to ensuring transparency in the assessment and selection of beneficiaries.
He congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to make effective and productive use of the items to improve their livelihoods and serve as an inspiration to others in their communities.
He also appealed to families, community leaders and the general public to continue supporting Persons with Disabilities, stressing that disability should never be a barrier to participation, achievement or success.
“We must all work together to eliminate discrimination, promote accessibility, and create an environment where every person can reach their full potential,” he said.
The DCE assured residents that the Assembly remained committed to ensuring that no one was left behind in its development agenda.
He said the Assembly would continue to collaborate with development partners and disability groups to improve the welfare and dignity of Persons with Disabilities.
