Defence Ministry holds send-off ceremony for outgoing Deputy Minister Brogya Genfi
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has held a send-off ceremony in honour of outgoing Deputy Minister for Defence, Ernest Brogya Genfi, following his reassignment to the Presidency.
The ceremony was held at the Ministry in Accra on Friday, September 4, to recognise Mr Genfi’s dedicated service and contributions to the Ministry and the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).
Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister for Defence, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, commended Brogya Genfi for his contribution to advancing the Ministry’s agenda and supporting the development of the defence sector.
He also praised him for his commitment, counsel and support, particularly during challenging periods, and wished him success in his new role.
On his part, Brogya Genfi expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama, the Commander-in-Chief of the GAF, for the confidence reposed in him and the opportunity to serve as Deputy Minister for Defence.
He also thanked the management and staff of the Ministry and the GAF for their support and collaboration during his tenure.
The outgoing Deputy Defence Minister further acknowledged the guidance and support he received from the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General William Agyapong, the Service Chiefs and other senior military officers.
As part of the ceremony, the Ministry of Defence and the GAF presented citations to Mr Genfi in recognition of his service.
The CDS also presented him with a ceremonial sword as a mark of appreciation for his contributions to the Ministry and the GAF.
Brogya Genfi was appointed Deputy Minister for Defence in March 2025 and served in the position until his reassignment by President Mahama.
Under changes announced by the Presidency on August 26, Brogya Genfi was reassigned as Presidential Advisor on National Resilience and Emergency Preparedness.
The reassignment forms part of further changes to the government announced by President Mahama, following an earlier ministerial reshuffle on August 7.
