GEA hands over processing equipment and laboratory to Kofi Vinyo & Co.

The Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), through the UNIDO Kaizen Expansion Project, has commissioned and handed over processing equipment, machinery and a laboratory to Kofi Vinyo and Company Limited, an agribusiness based at Kwatire in the Sunyani West Municipality.

The intervention is aimed at strengthening the company’s processing capacity, improving production efficiency and promoting greater value addition to locally produced agricultural commodities.

Mr. Kipo Dari of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Ghana, urged the management of the company to use the equipment for its intended purpose and build the business into a leading agro-processing enterprise.

Chief Executive Officer of the GEA, Madam Margaret Ansei, said the support forms part of the Agency’s efforts to equip small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with productive assets and provide post-deployment support to enhance their sustainability.

She said the equipment would help Kofi Vinyo and Company Limited increase local value addition, improve operational efficiency and expand its commercial activities.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Sunyani West, Mr. Kwasi Asante-Boateng (Esq.), commended the GEA for its continued support to businesses in the municipality, particularly Kofi Vinyo and Company Limited.

He assured that the Municipal Assembly would collaborate with the GEA to extend training and other support programmes to more SMEs in the municipality, with the aim of promoting entrepreneurship and creating employment opportunities for the youth.

The Bono Regional Minister, Mr. Joseph Addai Akwaboah, said the intervention was consistent with President John Dramani Mahama’s broader agenda of promoting Ghanaian innovation, strengthening entrepreneurship, empowering young people and creating sustainable jobs.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Regional Coordinating Council to creating an enabling environment for local businesses to expand and contribute meaningfully to the regional and national economy.

Mr. Addai Akwaboah also urged Kofi Vinyo and Company Limited to maintain the equipment properly, use it efficiently, uphold high operational standards and continuously improve productivity to create more employment opportunities for young people.

The Chief Executive Officer of Kofi Vinyo and Company Limited, Mr. Kofi Vinyo, expressed appreciation to the GEA and its development partners for the support.

He said the newly acquired equipment would significantly enhance the company’s production capacity and strengthen its operations.
