NCA receives four applications for 5G spectrum licences
The National Communications Authority (NCA) has received four applications for spectrum licences in the 700MHz, 2.3GHz and 3GHz mid bands.
The licences are intended to support the provision of mobile broadband services, including 5G, in Ghana.
The applications were received before the 5:00 p.m. deadline on Thursday, August 27, marking the end of the submission period under the NCA’s Request for Applications.
“The NCA wishes to inform the public and interested stakeholders that the deadline for the submission of applications under the Request for Applications for Spectrum Licences in the 700MHz, 2.3GHz and 3GHz Mid Bands for the Provision of Mobile Broadband Services, including 5G ended at 5:00 p.m. today,” the Authority said in a press release issued on Thursday.
Following the close of submissions, the NCA said it had formally opened Envelope A in line with the published Selection and Award Procedure.
However, Envelope B, which contains the Best Price Offer, remains sealed.
The NCA stressed that the opening of Envelope A is only an administrative stage in the licensing process and does not amount to an assessment of the applications.
“The opening of Envelope A is an administrative step in the licensing process and does not constitute an assessment or determination of the eligibility, compliance or completeness of any application,” it said.
The Authority said further updates on the licensing process would be communicated through its official communication channels.
