You are the backbone of our community – Ho Central MP tells Chiefs, Queen Mothers

The Member of Parliament for Ho Central Constituency, Hon. Richmond Edem Kofi Kpotosu, has lauded chiefs and queen mothers in the municipality, describing them as the backbone of communities and custodians of tradition and culture whose role in grassroots development cannot be overstated.

In a message delivered on his behalf at the Chiefs and Queen Mothers Engagement organized by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ho, Hon. Stephen Adom, Hon. Kpotosu expressed gratitude for the honour of addressing the traditional authorities.

Addressing the gathering, the MP said it is always a privilege to sit among custodians of tradition, noting that traditional leaders hold the history, values and unity of the people.

He thanked the chiefs and queen mothers for the peace and stability that reign in Ho Central Constituency and across the Ho Municipality, stating that such peace is not accidental but the fruit of their wisdom, patience and tireless mediation in communities.

Hon. Kpotosu reaffirmed his commitment to working hand in hand with traditional authorities to advance development in areas including education, health, roads, sanitation and economic empowerment for youth and women.

According to him, development is a shared responsibility and the voice, insight and support of traditional leaders are indispensable to achieving meaningful progress. He therefore encouraged participants to use the open forum as a genuine platform for dialogue by speaking freely about challenges in their communities in order to find practical solutions together.

He assured that his office remains open to all traditional leaders at all times and thanked organizers of the engagement for the initiative, while commending the chiefs and queen mothers for honouring the invitation.

The engagement, convened by the Ho Municipal Assembly, was aimed at enlightening traditional leaders and bringing them abreast with the level of development ongoing in their various communities.

The chiefs and queen mothers applauded the development efforts of Hon. Stephen Adom and the Assembly, but appealed to him to extend projects to areas yet to benefit. They highlighted roads, telecommunication network challenges, water and sports development as key areas that must be fast-tracked.

The MCE assured the traditional leaders that his office is making every effort to ensure the national cake reaches every community within his jurisdiction. He disclosed that the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) recently visited the municipality to take inventory of abandoned projects.

Hon. Adom also revealed that the Assembly is engaging companies from Jamaica to operationalize the Sokode Abattoir, and to allocate portions of the landfill site at Akrofu for a Farmer Service Center project for the Assembly.
