MENFYD Foundation inspires SHS students in Volta Region

The MENFYD Foundation, a non-profit organisation, has equipped 300 Senior High School (SHS) students in the Volta Region with vital mentorship to help them stay focused and unlock their full potential.

The impactful session brought together selected students from five notable institutions: OLA SHS, Mawuli School, Taviefe SHS, Mawuko SHS, and Sokode SHS.

The programme forms part of the Foundation's “Story of Our Lives” project which focuses on the true life stories of accomplished women, with emphasis on their challenges and struggles, as a way of inspiring girls in Senior High Schools.

Dr. Ama Boohene-Andah, Founder of Menfyd Foundation, urged the students to remain determined in all their endeavors, emphasising that their backgrounds did not dictate their future success.

"The family you come from cannot determine who you become in life," Dr. Boohene-Andah stated.

She implored the participants to work hard, stay committed to their dreams, and avoid distractions that could derail their progress.

Encouraging the girls to look past current hardships and focus on their aspirations, Dr Boohene-Andah, reiterated that life’s present challenges did not define their ultimate destiny.

The Founder advised them to embrace innovation and pursue excellence in everything they do, ensuring they maximise their potential to transform their lives and build a bright, and positive future.

Chief State Attorney at the Office of the Attorney General, Vivian Opoku-Agyakwa, Esq., stated that monumental success required relentless determination and an unyielding belief in one’s capabilities.

She challenged the girls to pursue career specialisation, noting that mastering a specific niche was essential for maintaining relevance, and meaningful impact in an increasingly competitive world.

The Chief State Attorney underscored hard work as an indispensable element of achievement, urging the audience to actively leverage credible information to guide their life choices.

Lieutenant Colonel Sena Affanyi, an expert in international security and intelligence, exhorted the participants to maintain absolute focus, asserting that dedication to purpose and divine guidance make any aspiration achievable.

Madam Millicent Dzakeh, the Volta Regional Girls' Education Officer, standing in for Acting Regional Director of Education Mrs. Marian Jemima Adzroe, expressed gratitude to the Foundation for delivering a project that directly impacts young girls.

She emphasised that connecting the girls with women who had successfully walked similar paths was one of the most meaningful investments in the region’s future.

Madam Dzakeh noted that girls' education went far beyond providing classroom access, explaining that true education ensured that every girl feels she belongs and realised her ambitions were never limited by her circumstances.

She observed that achievers often shared their successes without revealing the underlying struggles, which could mistakenly lead young people to believe their own difficulties equal failure.

Commending the Foundation's visionary initiative, she affirmed that the Ghana Education Service remained fully committed to supporting programmes that build confidence, resilience, and success in girls.

The engagement also featured healthcare professionals who conducted comprehensive sessions on mental health and adolescent sexual and reproductive health (SRH).

They urged the students to protect their well-being by avoiding high-risk behaviors that could trigger mental health crises, compromise their reproductive wellness, or expose them to sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

They emphasised that making informed, responsible choices was vital to safeguarding their academic journeys and securing their future life prospects.
