Ghana, Malawi deepen cooperation on digital transformation
The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations has received a high‑level delegation from Malawi as part of a study tour aimed at strengthening collaboration in digital transformation and public sector innovation.
Welcoming the delegation on behalf of the sector minister, the Deputy Minister Mohammed Adams Sukparu said Ghana was pleased to share its experiences in leveraging digital technologies to promote sustainable development and improve public service delivery.
He outlined Ghana’s progress in areas such as digital infrastructure, identity systems, cybersecurity, e‑government services, skills development and innovation ecosystems.
The Malawian delegation, led by the Deputy Chief Secretary at the Office of the President and Cabinet, Stuart Ligomeka, expressed appreciation for the warm reception and described Ghana as a valuable reference point for its own digital transformation agenda.
He explained that Malawi’s decision to undertake the study tour was informed by Ghana’s reputation as one of Africa’s leaders in digital governance.
Mr Ligomeka also noted the historical ties between the two countries, recalling the connection of Malawi’s first President, Dr Hastings Kamuzu Banda, with Ghana, where he studied and lived for several years.
He explained that the collaboration among African nations was important to building stronger and more responsive digital systems, adding: “We are one people and one Africa, and we need to share knowledge and our experiences so that together we can build a better Africa.”
The delegation also encouraged continued government-to-government engagement, while noting that technical experts from both countries could pursue further cooperation where specialised expertise and knowledge exchange were required.
