Roads Minister Hails Rapid Progress on Bono ‘Big Push’ Projects

Roads and Highways Minister, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has inspected ongoing ‘Big Push’ road projects in the Bono Region, expressing satisfaction with the pace and quality of work. The visit formed part of his nationwide monitoring tour aimed at ensuring timely delivery of key infrastructure projects.

Mr. Agbodza commended the Bono Regional Minister, Joseph Addae Akwaboa, for his consistent and effective supervision of the projects under his jurisdiction, noting that such diligence is critical to achieving government’s infrastructure targets.

The Minister’s first stop was the 48km Sunyani–Atronie–Acherensua Road, currently at 33% physical completion. The project, which began in September 2025, is scheduled for completion in September 2027. He urged the contractor, M/S Alexiboam Co. Ltd, to maintain the momentum to ensure on‑time delivery.

Other ‘Big Push’ projects inspected include:

On the 80km Jinijini–Sampa Road, contractor Rango Construction Ltd assured the Minister and the Regional Minister of high‑quality work and early completion, stating that the company has the capacity to lay 1km of asphalt per day. The Minister and his team inspected the asphalt durability to ensure adherence to standards.

Mr. Agbodza reiterated government’s massive investment in these projects and stressed that contractors must deliver on schedule or risk losing their contracts. He highlighted the importance of the roads in boosting socio‑economic development, improving transport connectivity, and supporting regional economic expansion.

Regional Minister Joseph Addae Akwaboa assured residents of Sampa of significant transformation as a result of the ongoing works. He expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the extensive ‘Big Push’ interventions and praised the Roads Minister for his hands‑on monitoring approach. He pledged continued supervision to ensure timely completion of all projects in the region.

The Roads Minister was accompanied by his Deputy, Alhassan Suhuyini, and other senior officials.
