Matthew Opoku Prempeh touches lives again with generous donation to Kumasi care institutions

Former Energy Minister and 2024 NPP running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as Napo, has once again demonstrated his commitment to supporting vulnerable members of society with a fresh donation of essential food items to three care institutions in Kumasi.

The beneficiaries of the gesture are the Kumasi Children’s Home, Edwinase Rehabilitation Centre and Kumasi Cheshire Home, where the donated items are expected to provide relief and support to people under their care.

The items, presented intermittently on Friday, included bags of rice and sugar, gallons of cooking oil, boxes of tinned tomatoes, bags of gari, assorted soft drinks, toffees and other food provisions.

The latest donation adds to a series of interventions previously undertaken by Dr. Opoku Prempeh in support of the institutions.

‘Giving brings blessings’
Explaining his motivation for the gesture, Dr. Opoku Prempeh said his support for the institutions was not necessarily because he had excessive financial resources, but because of his strong belief in the blessings associated with giving.

According to him, his personal experiences have strengthened his conviction that supporting the vulnerable comes with blessings that can manifest in different ways.

He said he had witnessed the benefits of giving on several occasions and therefore considered it important to continue supporting people who needed assistance.

Napo stressed that people should not wait until they become wealthy before helping others.

He urged Ghanaians to cultivate the habit of giving, insisting that even those with limited resources can make a difference in somebody’s life through small acts of kindness.

He also cited biblical teachings on generosity, noting that the Scriptures encourage believers to give and show concern for people in need.

‘Your generosity means a lot to us’

Officials of the beneficiary institutions expressed profound appreciation to Dr. Opoku Prempeh for his continued support.

At the Edwinase Rehabilitation Centre, the Manageress, Madam Rita Adjei, commended Napo for his repeated acts of generosity towards the facility.

She expressed gratitude for his sustained interest in the welfare of the residents and described his support as a meaningful contribution to their work.

The Centre’s House Mistress, Rose Achaab, also thanked the former Energy Minister and assured him of their prayers.

She prayed for God’s continued guidance and blessings upon Dr. Opoku Prempeh, adding that the staff and residents would continue to pray for the fulfilment of his aspirations in life.

At the Kumasi Cheshire Home, Board Secretary Father Obeng Manu also expressed appreciation for the gesture.

He assured Dr. Opoku Prempeh that the donated items would be put to their intended use and would contribute to meeting the needs of those receiving care at the facility.

The gesture has once again brought attention to the needs of care institutions and the importance of individuals, philanthropists and organisations complementing government efforts to support vulnerable people in society.
