The Old Order Changeth, Yielding Place to New on October 3: Boakye Agyarko Leads the NPP Hierarchy

"The old order changeth, yielding place to new,

And God fulfills Himself in many ways,
Lest one good custom should corrupt the world", Alfred, Lord Tennyson.

Every four years the New Patriotic Party (NPP) elects its leadership from the bottom of the party hierarchical pyramid all the way up till national leadership is elected at a conference. This year, the climax of it all happens in Kumasi on October 3, 2026. The old order shall change and yield its place to new. Honorable Boakye Agyarko shall be crowned the face of "the new" as the national chairman.

The election of the national officers is the climax of the internal party democratic pathway of choosing NPP leadership. The domino ends at this peak and it is completely detached from the presidential primaries. This explains why the October 3, 2026 is grand final of the bottom up approach and declaration of Honorable Boakye Agyarko as chairman will make it all colorful.

From the word GO, Honorable Boakye Agyarko as the national chairman will hit the road running and will do so purposely with maturity and admirable stamina. Chairman Agyarko will face no hurdle of superintending over the organization of presidential primaries, but will do so for parliamentary primaries in a distant future. This allows the chairman enough space and resources to hit the road running and do so hastily.

Chairman Agyarko is well positioned to make some vital strikes that will yield some positive results. He brings positive energy into the reconciliation work the presidential candidate has already started. Chairman Agyarko would be central in the connectivity web of the reconciliation master-plan. He enjoys some special relationship with the presidential candidate and he equally commands enormous respect from the camp of all former presidential aspirants in recent NPP presidential primaries.

Agyarko and Bawumia call each other TDC. Their collaborative relationship is historical and it predates recent events in the NPP. The fire would be rekindled easily. Kennedy Agyapong calls Agyarko senior and there is a reason for that. Since Agyarko has been around for a very long time in the NPP, it is curious to watch how his relationship with Kennedy Agyapong would be repackaged to make the NPP very appealing, even to those who would not buy NPP. And sharing of the name Kyerematen with Alan is not just a coincidence. The two are family and they know each other very well. There can never be bad blood. With Agyarko as the chairman of the NPP, the unthinkable with Alan is very possible, yes, it is possible.

The old order yields place to new and if the transition is not managed well, the new would fail to carry along the rich resources of the old. As NPP transitions from the era of the Da Rochas, the Ala Adjeteys, the Essekus, the Adu Boahens, the Kufours and the AKufo-Addos into a new generation of leadership, NPP needs someone like Agyarko to bridge the gap. Chairman Agyarko will easily pal around with ex-presidents Kufour and AKufo-Addo and equally get along very well with the current and younger stakeholders of the party including the external branches where he started his NPP politics.

At this critical moment of the political journey of the NPP, the party cannot afford to trade the rich experience of Honorable Boakye Agyarko for anything. When Agyarko is done executing this crucial transition from the old era into a new era, he would yield the place to entirely new generation to carry the mantle fully. Thereafter, the Kufours and AKufo-Addos can rest completely and the spirit of NPP forebearers will not turn in their graves.
